Outdoor lighting is a product which is assembled into a lamp for use in lighting fixtures. Outdoor LED lighting have a lifespan and electrical efficiency which are several times longer than incandescent lamps. They also have significantly more efficient than most fluorescent lamps.
Like normal lamps and unlike most fluorescent lamps that needs to warm-up before full brightness the led lights gives you the immediate brightness. The initial cost of LED outdoor lights is usually higher.
From 2010 some LED lights replaced higher wattage bulbs, for example, one manufacturer claimed a 16-watt LED bulb was as bright as a 150-watt halogen lamp. A standard general-purpose bulb emits light at an efficiency of about 14 to 17 brightness per watt depending on its size and voltage.
Lighting of outdoor areas including streets, roadways, parking lots, and pedestrian areas is currently dominated by metal and high pressure sodium sources. These relatively energy-efficient light sources have been in use for many years and have well-understood performance characteristics.
Recent advances made in LED technology have resulted in a new option for outdoor area lighting. These lights with several potential advantages over the normal metal halite and high pressure sodium sources. Well designed outdoor lights can provide the required surface with clear brightness, using less energy and with improved sight. It also have a significantly longer life span, some up to 50,000 hours or more, compared to 15,000 to 35,000 hours of normal globes.
